Adams County Health Department offers gently used books in all of their waiting rooms with the help of Quincy Public Library, the Regional Office of Education and many donors. Children and their families have selected over 35,000 books since June 2013! Bring your gently used books to the health department.
Many days you will see one of our “Ready Set Grow” volunteers. Volunteers read with children in the waiting room and help parents learn the brain building power of reading to their children. And the snuggle power too! The children get to keep the beautiful new book. Thank you to our dedicated volunteers! Congratulations to the parents who read to their littles. The percent of parents who now read 5 or more days a week is above the county average. Way to go!
Bank of Quincy provides bookmarks with developmental literacy tips for ages birth to five.
Did you know that talking about a book as you read it helps your child learn vocabulary and comprehension? You are giving your child a love of reading and giving yourself a special time with your child. Win-win!
Parents have the power to shape their child’s future!
