Books Build connections at Quincy SIU Clinic

Our Ready Community is helping families and children be Ready for school. SIU Clinic in Quincy is connecting children and books. SIU began the Books Build Connections Reading Project.  The project promotes early literacy by having the doctor not only give a book to children at their well-child visits (6 months to 5 years) but model reading to the child.  When physicians promote reading out loud to children, parents are more likely to follow through.  When parents follow through, children reap the benefits including improved language skills, brain development and bonding with the parent.  All these things lead to greater school success.  Kudos to ADM for support.  Congratulations to the staff and families at SIU clinic.
